Many Williams Refrigeration employees recently undertook training in Diploma’s, Certificate 3 and Certificate 4 in Competitive Manufacturing. The on the job training was conducted by the Wiseman Institute and focussed on improving process, procedures and methods to enhance Williams’ manufacturing competitiveness. In addition the programme also included safety and 5S modules.
The structure of the course provided an excellent review of our current work practices exploring new ideas and re-assessing of areas that required improvement. It allowed all participants to contribute their ideas and be involved in our continual improvement process.
Our factory floor has never looked so clean and organised. Many new systems and processes were implemented which have reduced waste and double handling and also improved our productivity, output, quality and customer service. The training provided the framework and tools to take the workplace to the next level. The general skill level has increased across the whole of Operations. The training complimented our need to streamline where possible in a time of large scale change. The training was invaluable to our continued business improvement.
The program ran for a period of 12 months culminating in the award of the nationally recognised certificates by Wiseman to all 40 participants.
