Camperdown Commons, located in bustling inner Sydney was once the location of Camperdown bowls club — built in 1963.

Having been bought in 2014 by Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL, this city acre has since been transformed from a club and two bowling greens into a thriving community centre providing spaces for hire and running events.
The facilities include an interactive kids’ play space, take-away coffee shop, a city farm and organic restaurant. Pocket City Farms is a not-for-profit group taking Sydney’s unused spaces and putting them to good use by growing fresh produce to provide to the locals. Pocket has established the plentiful gardens around Camperdown Commons.

The onsite restaurant Acre is a self-sufficient venue that utilises the urban farm to bring organic and locally produced foods to the kitchen and its guests. The refreshed venue is comprised of a garden terrace, eatery, bar and container café.

The transformation entailed complete refurbishment of the kitchen and bar—the centrepiece areas for this new community construction.

To fit in with the warm farm-style, neutral tones and industrial features, new black Cameo cabinets were specified to complement the designer’s vision. Williams also supplied Emerald Under Counter units to ensure the kitchen has plenty of easily accessible, refrigerated storage for the freshly picked produce.

The Camperdown Commons project was designed by Cini Little and built by Boden Projects. Foodservice equipment was specified by HRC Alliance.
