CERES - Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies, is an award winning, not-for-profit, sustainability centre located on 4.5 hectares on the Merri Creek in East Brunswick, Melbourne. It is also a thriving community, an urban farm, Australia’s largest deliverer of environmental education, an event and conference venue and a place rich with social and cultural diversity. CERES is recognised as an international leader in community and environmental practice.
The CERES Sustainability Centre showcases best practice in environmentally sustainable building design and construction. Its latest addition, the Van Raay Centre incorporates The Merri – arguably Australia's most energy and water efficient restaurant. With natural surrounds in a stunning restaurant building that is in itself a work of cutting-edge design with its sustainable materials, low energy appliances and waste minimisation. The building incorporates many energy saving features including efficient refrigeration and cooking equipment.
The refrigeration system was designed by
Food Consultants Australia (FCA) and
incorporates a highly energy efficient
Williams glycol refrigeration system.
